Rent a CPU machine by the hour

A computer's processor and memory, rented from someone who has it spare — PCs, servers and Apple-silicon Macs. No graphics card needed, and the cheapest way to rent a computer: open it in your browser in a minute or two, pay only for the time you use.

What people rent them for

Builds and tests

Compile a big project, run a test suite, or build containers on many cores, without tying up your own computer.

Data work

Process files, crunch spreadsheets and logs, convert media, or run a long script overnight on someone else's machine.

A server of your own

Run a bot, an API, a game server or a web app for a few hours or a few days — with a web address of its own when you want one.

Small AI on a processor

Text embeddings, small language models and classic machine learning run on a good processor too — no graphics card to pay for.

What you get

A Linux workspace, all yours

Every rental is a fresh Linux sandbox on the host's machine: a terminal and a notebook in your browser, or SSH, scp and VS Code from your own computer, with root inside it. Its listing shows the cores and memory you get — the host chooses how much of their computer to rent out, and you get exactly what the listing says.

Safe for both sides

Your payment waits in escrow and reaches the host only for the time the machine runs; stop whenever you like and the rest comes back. Your work stays in its own sandbox, away from the host's files and home network — and theirs away from you.

Rent a Mac by the hour

Apple-silicon Macs are listed as CPU machines: you rent their processor and memory, in the same Linux sandbox, built for arm64. Most Python, Node and Go software runs as it is; a program made only for Intel or AMD processors does not. A Mac's graphics are not reachable from the sandbox — for AI on a Mac, rent an AI model running on one instead.

Questions about CPU machines

What is a CPU machine?

A computer rented for its processor and memory rather than a graphics card — a PC, a server or a Mac whose owner lists it on RentGPUPower while they are not using all of it. You get a Linux workspace on it, by the hour.

How much does it cost?

Each host sets their own hourly price, shown on every listing before you rent and locked when you do. Processor machines are the cheapest machines here. See them by price →

Can I rent a Mac?

Yes — Apple-silicon Macs are listed as CPU machines. You work in a Linux sandbox on the Mac's processor (arm64), not in macOS, and its graphics are not reachable from there.

Do I get root and SSH?

Yes. You are root inside your own sandbox, and you can connect with SSH, scp and VS Code from your own computer — or use the terminal and notebook in your browser.

Can I run a web server or an API on it?

Yes. A service you start in the workspace can have a web address of its own while the rental runs. Mining cryptocurrency, attacks and anything illegal are not allowed — on any machine here.

What if the machine stops?

Your payment is held in escrow and reaches the host only for the time the machine actually ran. If it stops early, the unused time comes back to your balance automatically.

Need a graphics card after all?

For AI training, image generation or anything CUDA, rent a GPU — or several machines as one cluster.
